Hannah Hodgson Author

Hannah Hodgson is a poet living with life limiting illness meaning she is a palliative care and hospice user. Her work has been published by BBC Arts, The Poetry Society and Magma, amongst other outlets. She is a 2021 winner of the Poetry Business New Poets Prize. She is a recipient of a 2020 Northern Writers Award for Poetry. Hannah has worked with both NHS England on policy guidance and the charity Together for Short Lives. She has spoken with MPs on her experience of the NHS, as well as The Royal Society of GPs. In recognition of her activism Hannah received a prestigious Diana Award in 2021, given in the name of Diana, Princess of Wales. In December 2021, she was awarded the honour of a Diana Legacy Award in further recognition for her campaign work. Her first poetry pamphlet Dear Body was published by Wayleave Press in 2018; and her second, centred around life with serious illness was published by Verve Poetry Press in Feb 2021. Her first full length poetry collection 163 Days is due to be published by Seren in February 2022. The New Poets Prize pamphlet will be published in later 2022, and I always fall in love inside Hospitals is due to be published in September 2022 by Broken Sleep Books. Hannah is an award-winning essayist and has written a graphic Novella contained within Breakthrough: Our Time published by Flying Penguin Press. She has over 2.4k followers on YouTube where she discusses poetry and life limiting illness. Hannah has run workshops for the Literary Agency (both in person and online) and frequently goes into schools to deliver personal development and Creative Writing workshops.
