Gulus G Turkmen Author

Gulus G. Turkmen, a mother to a boy and a girl, realized that every mother spends a lot of effort for raising their children, but not all of these efforts produced a positive result. Feeling the need for a better understanding of the cultural differences in childraising, she set up the “Alternative Motherhood” website in 2010. With the support of Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish, the internationally acclaimed experts on communication between adults and children, she became the first coordinator of “How to Talk so Kids Will Listen” communication workshops in Turkey (2011). Her research book “Beyond Motherhood” (Kaknus, 2012) exploring maternal trends were followed by a TV program on a local channel and a program on the Turkish national radio. She then developed the “Map of Motherhood” application, in which she could evaluate the approach and practices of a mother to her child, and devised the concept of “Sustainable Good Parenting”. Turkmen is still continuing to share her research in panels, symposiums, educational centers and continues to write in various other journals and newspapers.
