Eric Hansen has hiked and backpacked extensively and now divides his time between the mountains and canyons of the West and the woods and waters of the northern Great Lakes. After twenty years of exploring Michigan's Upper Peninsula, he hiked nearly 900 miles to research this guidebook. He has written extensively for Backpacker magazine. His regional outdoor writing appeared in Milwaukee Magazine, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal, Shepherd Express, Silent Sports magazine, and Wisconsin Trails magaine.
