A contemporary art historian and museologist, since 2000 Emma Zanella has been the Director of MA*GA, Museum of Contemporary Art of Gallarate, and secretary and coordinator of the National Award of Visual Arts of the City of Gallarate, the coordinator of the Twister regional network for Contemporary Art and of the network for culture, OFFICINA CONTEMPORANEA. She curates and organizes many exhibitions and projects related to Italian and international artistic research, museology, the relationship between contemporary and public art. An art critic and art historian, he collaborated in 1970 with the Venice Biennale, of which he was the commissioner in 1982. He was the commissioner of the Rome Quadrenniale in 1993 and, in the course of his 50-year academic career he served as Rector of the Albertina Academy in Turin (academic year 1976-1977), Deputy Rector of Brera Academy (1979-1982), Professor of History of Modern Art at the University of Lecce, and Professor of History of Contemporary Art at Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan and Brescia (until 2008). Co-owner of the family business, he is the Artistic Director of the Missoni Archive, which he is developing into a communication project to valorize through exhibitions and events the historical and artistic heritage of the Missoni Fashion House.
