Dan Zhu is a distinguished professor of Huazhong University
of Science and Technology (China), vice-director of Wuhan
National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, and vice-director of
Key Laboratory of Biomedical Photonics (HUST), Ministry
of Education.
Her research interests include tissue optical imaging theory
and methods, with a particular focus on tissue optical
clearing imaging and applications. She has authored more
than 150 peer-reviewed articles and reviews.
She was elected Fellow of SPIE, and secretary general and
vice president of Biomedical Photonics Committee of the
Chinese Optical Society. She has served as chair or co-chair
at various international and domestic conferences, and as
guest editor or editorial member of various journals, including
Biomedical Optics Express, Journal of Biomedical Optics,
Scientific Reports, Journal of Innovative Optical Health
Sciences, and Frontier of Optoelectronics.
Valery V. Tuchin is a corresponding member of the Russian
Academy of Sciences, professor and head of the Department of
Optics and Biophotonics, and director of the Scientific Medical
Center at Saratov State University. He is also the head of the
laboratory for laser diagnostics of technical and living systems
at the Institute of Precise Mechanics and Control of the
RAS, and a supervisor of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of
Biophotonics at the National Research Tomsk State University
and the Femtomedicine Laboratory of the ITMO University.
His research interests include biophotonics, biomedical
optics, tissue optics, laser medicine, tissue optical clearing,
and nanobiophotonics.
He is a member of SPIE, OSA, and IEEE, a visiting professor
at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China)
and Tianjin Universities (China), and an adjunct professor at the
University of Limerick (Ireland) and the National University
of Ireland – Galway (Ireland).
Professor Tuchin was elected Fellow of SPIE and OSA and
he was awarded many titles and awards, including Honored
Scientist of the Russian Federation, Honored Professor of SSU,
Honored Professor of Finland (FiDiPro), SPIE in the field of
optical education, Chime Bell of Hubei province (China),
Joseph Goodman (OSA / SPIE) for Outstanding Monograph
(2015), Michael Feld (OSA) for Pioneering Research in
Biophotonics (2019), the Medal of the D.S. Rozhdestvensky
Optical Society (2018), and the Alexander Mikhailovich
Prokhorov medal of the Academy of Engineering Sciences,
named after A.M. Prokhorov (2021).
He is the author of over 700 articles (Web of Science) and
30 monographs and textbooks, he has over 60 patents, and his
work has been cited over 30000 times.
Elina A. Genina is a professor in the Departments of Optics
and Biophotonics at Saratov State University (Russia). Her
research interests include biomedical optics, laser medicine,
nanobiophotonics, and the development of methods for
the control of tissue optical properties. She is a coauthor of
more than 300 peer-reviewed publications, analytical reviews,
book chapters, and patents on biomedical optics, and a guest
editor of 18 special issues of journals and proceedings. She
is a member of the editorial board of J. Innovative Optical
Health Sciences, Diagnostics, J. Biomedical Photonics &
Engineering, and The Open Biomedical Engineering Journal.
She is a scientific secretary of the International Symposium on
Optics and Biophotonics (Saratov Fall Meeting) and co-chair
of a conference in the framework of the Symposium. She has
more than 4000 citations and an h-index of 30.
