Dr Tony McClelland Author

Dr Tony McClelland, MBBCH, FCP, FRACP grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, and trained as a doctor at the University of the Witwatersrand. Following a year of internship, he spent two years of compulsory military service in the South African army. This was followed by a stint in emergency medicine and postgraduate training in internal medicine at the Nelson Mandela Medical School in Durban. He spent nine years in private specialist practice in Durban and emigrated to New Zealand in 1996. He is currently Clinical Head of Medicine and a Director of Clinician Training at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland. He is married to Bev and has two teenage sons. His passions include his family, his patients, medical teaching, golf, fishing, reading, and the occasional well-chilled Heineken.
