David E. Wagner (1939–2009) is the author of Powder River Odyssey: Nelson Cole’s Western Campaign of 1865, a complimentary volume on the eastern column of Connor’s command. A serious student of the Indian wars in the West, he worked with Pitney Bowes, Inc., for thirty-eight years.
