Author's Profile Retired Insurance Broker David Beesley has, for many years, been making-up songs, rhymes and stories for his three children and eleven grandchildren, and writing cheeky odes for friend's celebratory birthdays. He has now decided to write children's books for publication, plus odes when asked! With a target age-group of 4-8 years he aims to focus on sharing, rhyming books. David vividly recalls hearing a TV comedian, before he was famous and still working as a schoolteacher, saying that "the best thing you can give your kids is your time". He reflects - "how true that is and that reading a story to them is as good a way as any." He has created a little character - "Cracker the Fearless Alpaca" - and his first book is entitled "It all kicked-off at the Zoo". David does believe, from experience, that children do like cheeky surprises in their stories! He wants to focus on excitement and adventure whilst touching a little on moral, social and safety issues. There are more stories planned for the future - please don't be misled by Cracker's cute, gentle image - underneath he is a real toughy!
