Catherine Coldstream Author & Editor

Catherine Coldstream converted to Catholicism after her father's death and was a Carmelite nun for twelve years (eleven at Akenside, and then a further year-and-a-half at another monastery when she felt the strong need to return). Aged 39, she left for good, and took an undergraduate degree in theology at the University of Oxford, and taught theology, philosophy and ethics for ten years. She never stopped thinking about her life as a nun and wrote about it as a way of understanding the experiences that shaped her. She holds an MA in Creative Nonfiction from UEA, Norwich. She is a viola player and choral singer and lives in Oxford.
