Caroline Heitz Author & Editor

Caroline Heitz studied Archaeology, Social Anthropology and Modern History of Eastern Europe at the University of Basel, Switzerland. She was a research and teaching assistant at the Institute of Archaeological Sciences at the University of Bern until 2018. Caroline’s cutting-edge doctoral research innovatively combined research on mobility, entanglement, appropriation, and transformation in relation to Neolithic pottery from the UNESCO-World Heritage wetland sites. She was awarded a Postdoc-Mobility Grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation and became a fellow at the School of Archaeology, University of Oxford in 2021, and the CRC 1266 ‘Scales of Transformation’ at the Kiel University in 2022. She currently researches social archaeological topics as well as climate change vulnerabilities and resilience capabilities. Caroline has a special interest in ontological and epistemological questions as well as inter- and transdisciplinary, she combines theories from archaeology with approaches from philosophy, sociology and social anthropology in her research.
