Carol J. Peden is an Adjunct Profesor in Anesthesiology at both the Keck School of Medicine of USC in Los Angeles, California and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is also a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Healthcare Innovation and Improvement, University of Bath in Bath, Somerset, UK. Dr Englesbe is involved in undergraduate, medical student, and surgeon education. He is the director of the 3rd and 4th year medical student curriculum at the University of Michigan Medical School. He directs the Academic Surgery Development Program at Michigan, enabling students and trainees do impactful work in surgery. He is a transplant surgeon focusing on pediatric and adult liver transplantation. His research interests involve practice transformation, focusing on perioperative care. He directs the Michigan Surgical Quality Collaborative and the Michigan Opioid Prescribing and Engagement Program. His passion is enabling young surgeons to development inpact-focused professional careers.
