Arnaldo Coen Author

Arnaldo Coen was born on June 10, 1940 in Mexico City. Between 1959 and 1960 he worked in Laurence Calgagno's workshop and began to experiment in Abstract Expressionism. He was awarded a scholarship by the French Government in 1967. In 1968 he was a founding member of the Independent Salon. In 1972 he participated in the creation of Stealing the Art, a film that was filmed and shown in Documenta 5, Kassel, Germany. He is also a member of the Academy of Arts and the Mexican Culture Seminar. In his artistic development he began to work with object paintings and sculpture, using the female torso with different treatments as the main theme. In addition to painting he has made environments, set designs and costumes for plays and dance.
