Bruce Lubotsky Levin, Dr.P.H., M.P.H. is Associate Professor & Head of the Graduate Studies in Behavioral Health Program at the University of South Florida de la Parte Institute & College of Public Health. He also is Adjunct Associate Professor of Health Services Research at The University of Texas School of Public Health. Dr. Levin earned his B.S. (Zoology) from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and his M.P.H. (Community Health Practice) and Dr.P.H. (Health Services Research & Administration) from The University of Texas, Health Sciences Center at Houston, School of Public Health. Dr. Levin’s research interests include the areas of managed behavioral health care, mental health policy, graduate behavioral health education, and mental health informatics. His teaching responsibilities at the University of South Florida College of Public Health include courses in behavioral health services delivery, community-based prevention in behavioral health, mental health policy, and mental health informatics. Dr. Levin currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Behavioral Health Services & Research, and is Senior Editor of the following texts: Mental Health Services: A Public Health Perspective, 2nd Edition (Oxford University Press, 2004); Women’s Mental Health Services: A Public Health Perspective (Sage Publications, 1998); and Mental Health Services: A Public Health Perspective (Oxford University Press, 1996). He also edited (with Ardis Hanson) the text, The Building of a Virtual Library (Information Science Publishing, 2003). Dr. Levin is currently writing (with Ardis Hanson) the text, Mental Health Informatics (Oxford University Press). He has published numerous professional articles and book chapters in behavioral health services delivery. Peter D. Hurd is professor of Pharmacy Administration at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, where he is the Director of the Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Liberal Arts and Assistant Dean of Assessment. He has also been Director of Graduate Studies at the College. His Ph.D. is in social and administrative sciences from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota. He has a B.A. degree from Dartmouth College in psychology and an M.A. in social psychology from Duke University. Dr. Hurd’s research interests include smoking prevention in adolescents, medication utilization of senior athletes, the practical application of management theory to health-related areas, educational strategies including learning styles and active learning, and psychosocial aspects of medication use. His teaching responsibilities include courses in health care systems, medical sociology, gerontology, and research methods. Public health has been one of the common threads in both his teaching and research. He has published 33 professional articles and nine book chapters, and he has presented numerous workshops on personal effectiveness. Ardis Hanson, M.L.S. is Director of the Research Library at the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute at the University of South Florida. She received her bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Tampa and her Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of South Florida. Interested in the use of technology to enhance research, she developed the web site for the Library and the Institute in 1993 and, as Institute Webmaster, has since created a number of specialized research resources for Institute and Internet users. She has presented at the USF Symposium on 21st Century Teaching Technologies for the past three years, showcasing innovative software applications. Ms. Hanson was a member of the original Virtual Library Planning Committee for the University of South Florida Virtual Library Project (1996), and is currently a member of the Virtual Library Implementation Team, an oversight committee for the USF Virtual Library. Ms. Hanson is currently writing (with Bruce Lubotsky Levin) a text entitled, Mental Health Informatics (Oxford University Press). She is the Senior Editor of the text, Building a Virtual Library (Information Science Publishing, 2003) and has published (with Bruce Lubotsky Levin) numerous chapters on mental health services, most recently in the following texts: Mental Health Services: A Public Health Perspective, Second Edition (Oxford University Press, 2004); Introduction to Health Care Delivery (Jones & Bartlett, 2004); and Handbook of Mental Health Administration and Management (Brunner-Routledge, 2003). She currently teaches graduate behavioral health courses at the University of South Florida College of Public Health.
