Although Anna Glazova has spent the greater part of her life living in Germany and the United States, she writes in her native Russian. Her first book of poems was published in 2003 (Moscow, OGI). She is currently working on a new book of poems under the title of Loop. Unhalved., which will be published in Moscow in 2008. The Shearsman collection is a cross-section of her lyrical texts from over seven years.Currently, Anna Glazova is completing her dissertation, Counter-Quotation: The Defiance of Poetic Tradition in Paul Celan and Osip Mandelstam, in the Comparative Literature Studies Program at Northwestern University (Evanston). Her interest in languages prompted her to translate into Russian works by two prominent figures of European Modernism, Robert Walser and Unica Zurn. She has also contributed to the translation of an anthology of New Zealand poetry.
