Giuseppe Milano, MD, is Full Professor and Chairman of Orthopaedics at the University of Brescia, Italy, Director of Residency Program in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the University of Brescia, and Director of the Unit of Orthopaedicsat the “Spedali Civili” Hospital in Brescia. He is also Director of the R.I.T.M.O. (Research and Innovation in Traumatology, Hand surgery and Orthopaedics) Research Center at the University of Brescia.
Professor Milano is an expert in shoulder surgery. He completed his shoulder training in the USA under the guidance of Stephen J. Snyder, Richard Caspari and Edward Craig. Professor Milano has extensive experience in the care of athletes at all levels of competition ranging from recreational sports to professional athletics. He has served as a Team Physician for A.S. Roma soccer team for other Lega A soccer teams in Italy. He also served as Head Team Physician at the Academy of Italian Federation of Rugby.
Professor Milano was founder and President of SIAGASCOT (Italian Society of Arthroscopy, Knee surgery, Upper limb, Sports traumatology, Cartilage repair and Orthopaedic Technologies) in 2019, and ESSKA Board Member and Chairman of ESA for the years 2018-2020.
Professor Milano has authored 130 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 50 book chapters and has edited 7 previous books. He has also received several prestigious awards, such as the ISAKOS John Joyce Award and the Arthroscopy Journal Traveling Fellowship. He was also an ESSKA-APOA Travelling Fellow in 2006 and Godfather of ESSKA-SLARD Travelling Fellowship in 2022.
Professor Milano was Associate Editor of Arthroscopy from 2011 to 2017. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of Joints, the official journal of SIAGASCOT.
Andrea Grasso, is specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Sapienza University of Rome in 1997. From 1998 to 2001 he carried out a Fellow at the Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano, dealing with shoulder and knee surgery. From 2003 to 2006 President of the youth group of the Italian Arthroscopy Society (SIA). From 2009 to 2021 Surgeon in Chief of the Villa Valeria Clinic in Rome, monospecialistic in orthopedics and traumatology. From 2020 Surgeon in Chief of the Orthopedic Department of the Fabia Mater Clinic in Rome. From 2017 to 2020 President of the Italian Society of Orthopedic Surgeons of the Private Hospital (SICOOP). From 2018 to 2020 and from 2020 to 2022 Board Member of Italian Orthopedic and Traumatology Society (SIOT). From 2014 to 2018 Board Member of th Italian Society of the Private Hospistal (AIOP). From 2011 to 2021 Professor at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome with the teaching of shoulder surgery . Since 2022 Professor at the Campus Biomedico in Rome. Roman Brzóska, MD, PhD, has worked at St. Luke’s Hospital, Center for Advanced Arthroscopic Surgery, Bielsko-Biala, Poland since 2001, and in 2010 he became Head of the Upper Limb Department at the Center. Dr. Brzóska graduated from the Silesian Medical Academy in Katowice in 1997. He completed medical specialization in Orthopaedics and Traumatology in 2006 and was awarded his doctorate by the Jagiellonian University Krakow in 2010. He has participated in more than 80 international congresses, chaired three international orthopaedic symposia with live shoulder surgery transmissions, and organized numerous international cadaver lab courses and basic and advanced courses on shoulder arthroscopy. Dr. Brzóska has served as Chair of ESSKA-ESA (2016–8) and at the time of writing is President-Elect of the Shoulder and Elbow Section of the Polish Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. He is co-editor of the Springer book Management of Failed Shoulder Surgery (2018).
Ladislav Kovačič, MD, is an orthopaedic trauma surgeon in the Clinical Department of Traumatology, University Medical Center Ljubljana, Slovenija. This institution is the largest and leading hospital in the country. It accepts patients from elsewhere in Slovenija and neighboring countries. Dr. Kovačič graduated from the Medical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, in 2000 and completed specialization in Traumatology in 2007, when he took up his present position. He also spent one year, 2016, working as orthopaedic and trauma surgeon in France. His professional focus of interest are intraarticular fractures, joint injuries, articular and periarticular pathology, sports traumatology and arthroscopic surgery. For the last few years, he is mainly involved in the treatment of shoulder pathology, performing open and arthroscopic procedures including advanced, complex and revision surgeries. He is involved in various research projects; results of scientific work are publishedin indexed medical journals. So far, he contributed several chapters in the books on arthroscopy, shoulder surgery and traumatology. He has participated numerous international courses as faculty, where he gave lectures and provides practical training. Traditionally, he is organizing cadaveric course on knee and shoulder arthroscopy in Ljubljana, which is popular educational event in this part of Europe. Dr. Kovačič is an active member of several national and international medical societies. He has been board member of ESSKA-ESA for several years and currently serves as a vice-chair of this section.
