Amer Al-Hinai Editor

Dr. Amer Al-Hinaiobtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree from the West Virginia University, USA in 2000 and 2005. Dr. Al-Hinai is an Associate Professor in the department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies & Research (DVC-PSR) at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. He was a Visiting Professor at the Masdar Insitutre (MI) of Science and Technology, UAE from 2012 to 2016. He was the founding Director of the Sustainable Energy Research Center (SERC) at SQU from 2017-2021. He is a senior member of IEEE since 2011, Chairman of the IEEE – Oman Section 2014-2018, and holding a Consultant grade as classified by Oman Society of Engineers. He served as a Member and the Chairman of the Authority for Electricity Regulation, Oman during 2011 - 2017. He received many awards, including: Recognition by SQU during the University Day (2013 & 2014) for research & international award, Best Paper Award, UAE (2015), one of the pioneers in the Engineering Practice in the Gulf, Bahrain (2011), SQU Distinguished Researcher Award (2020). He secured many internal and external research grants, notably from the Masdar Institute (MI), The Research Council (TRC), Oman, His Majesty’s Trust Fund (HMTF) for Strategic Research, British Petroleum (BP), Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), etc.. His research interest spans diverse energy related areas such as energy production, renewable energy resources, power systems, energy efficiency, management and conversion. He was Invited Speaker on various aspects of Renewable Energy in Oman, UAE and Switzerland. He is credited with 93 journal papers and conference proceedings with 1125 citations, h-index 19 and i-10 index 27. Dr. Al-Hinai is Editor of the International Journal of Renewable Energy Technology. Dr. Amer Al-Hinai is an IEEE senior member and the past Chairman of IEEE Oman Section.

Dr. Hassan Haes Alhelouis a Senior Member of IEEE. He is with the Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering, Monash University, Clayton, VIC 3800, Australia. At the same time, He is a Professor and faculty member at Tishreen University in Syria, and a consultant with Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) in Oman. Previously, He was with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University College Dublin (UCD), Dublin 4, Ireland between 2020-21, and with Isfahan University of Technology (IUT), Iran. He completed his B.Sc. from Tishreen University in 2011, M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Isfahan University of Technology, Iran all with honors. He was included in the 2018 & 2019 Publons and Web of Science (WoS) list of the top 1% best reviewer and researchers in the field of engineering and cross-fields over the world. He was the recipient of the Outstanding Reviewer Award from many journals, e.g., Energy Conversion and Management (ECM), ISA Transactions, and Applied Energy. He was the recipient of the best young researcher in the Arab Student Forum Creative among 61 researchers from 16 countries at Alexandria University, Egypt, 2011. He also received the Excellent Paper Award 2021/2022 from IEEE CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems (SCI IF: 3.938; Q1). He has published more than 200 research papers in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. His research papers received 2550 citations with H-index of 26 and i-index of 56. He authored/edited 15 books published in reputed publishers such as Springer, IET, Wiley, Elsevier, and Taylor & Francis. He serves as an editor in a number of prestigious journals such as IEEE Systems Journal, Computers and Electrical Engineering (CAEE-Elsevier), IET Journal of Engineering, and Smart Cities. He has also performed more than 800 reviews for high prestigious journals, including IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, Energy Conversion and Management, Applied Energy, International Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems. He has participated in more than 15 international industrial projects over the globe. His major research interests are Renewable energy systems, Power systems, Power System Security, Power system dynamics, Power System Cybersecurity, Power system operation, control, Dynamic state estimation, Frequency control, Smart grids, Micro-grids, Demand response, and Load shedding.
