Abhijit Kundu Author & Editor

Abhijit Kundu is Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi. His doctoral work is on cinema and gender studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His areas of interest are sociology of contemporary India and sociological theories and methods.  Prof. Kundu has been a guest faculty at Aarhus University, Denmark, as part of a European Union-funded project of Contemporary India Study Centre Aarhus, and has acted as a resource person in the state-level orientation programme on methodology and choice-based credit system syllabus of a number of Indian universities. He has been in the course revision committee of the Sociology Department, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi; Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi; and Ambedkar University Delhi. His published works are: The Humanities: Methodology and Perspectives (co-authored, 2009), The Social Sciences: Methodology and Perspectives (edited, 2009), Sociological Theory (2012) and Ambedkar: An Overview (edited with an Introduction, 2018). He has been a frequent contributor in the popular Anandabazar (vernacular) op-ed pages. He has contributed to the Publications Division, Government of India, Anthology on Indian Cinema through the Century (bilingual, Hindi and English, 2015).   Nupurnima Yadav did her PhD from the Centre for the Study of Social Systems, Jawaharlal Nehru University. She is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Sri Venkateswara College. She has also undertaken various research projects with UNICEF and Delhi government. Her publications include, Creative Destruction and Enterprising Economy, in the (eds) Crisis of Social Transformation in India (2015), Fearsome Goddess Seetala and Faithful Communities published in  Nidan: International Journal for the Study of Hinduism.
