Prof. Abd el-aziz Khairy Abd el-aal is a geologist and geophysicist professor. He is now working at Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Kuwait since 2019. In 1999 He joined National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) Helwan, Egypt. Formerly, he was the director of Egyptian National Seismic Network (ENSN). He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Geological and Geophysical Sciences with a very good grade with honors from the Faculty of Science, Sohag University, Egypt in 1992. In 2003 He received his M.Sc. in applied geophysics. In 2006, He awarded PhD degree in applied geophysics. His research interests are mainly focus on engineering seismology, tectonics, hazard mitigation, seismic exploration and environmental sciences. He was working in shallow and deep seismic group in NRIAG.
He conducted many shallow seismic profiles and site investigation in different part of Egypt. The subject of his PhD is certainly in seismic risk reduction. He has worked in many field-related sub-disciplines of Earth Sciences including engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, tectonics, crustal deformation, installing seismic networks and seismic hazard mitigation. He has a good experience in teaching seismic courses in many universities in Egypt. He has participated as first and co-author in more than 85 published papers and book chapters in international indexed and refereed scientific Journals and conferences. He is working as associate editor of many international scientific journals such as Arabian Journal of Geosciences (AJGS), Journal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology (JPEPT) … Etc. He is now acting as referee in most high standing international journals publish in seismology and hazard mitigation subjects. Prof. Abd el-aziz Khairy Abd el-aal is a member in many local, regional and international scientific committees. He has received several awards from the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research, Egypt in applied geophysical and Geological Sciences.
Dr Jasem Mohammed Al-Awadhi is now a Professor at Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science Kuwait University. He is He got his B. Sc. in Civil Engineering from Kuwait University, Kuwait, January 1986. His Master in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University, U. S. A. January 1992. The Ph.D. in Civil Engineering: from University of Aberdeen, May 1996. The Professional Interest are Environmental Science - Desert Science - Sediment Transport, Erosion and Deposition - Sand Control Measures and Modeling - Air Pollution Modeling and Seismology – Environmental Impact Assessment Studies. He has more than 60 published papers in refereed scientific Journals and conferences in English language. He also has been published more than 15, book, book chapter, reports and scientific papers in Arabic language. He was supervisor for many Master and PhD thesis. He awarded many scientific prizes and awards. He has also leads many major projects and leads. He has conducted many workshops, training courses and conferences.
He is a member in many local and international organizations like Kuwait Environmental Protection Society, Kuwait. Committee member for rehabilitation of gravel quarry areas, Environment Public Authority, Kuwait. Member, National Committee for Compacting Desertification, Environment Public Authority, Kuwait. Member, Scottish International Resource Project, Scotland. Member, Middle East Seismology Fume, USA. Founder, GCC Dry Land Studies Network.
He touches many academiccourses: Earth and Planets, Basic Geology, Land Degradation, Desertification, Pollution and Desert, Process of Aeolian Sediment Transport, Environmental Geology, Desert Soil, Rangeland Management, Sand Movement and Dust fallout, Special Studies.
Dr. Ali Al-Dousari is one of the leading scientists in the area of land degradation (desertification) and rehabilitation methods in the Arab region, especially in the Arabian Peninsula, and has significant experience in addressing land degradation linked to socioeconomic effects. He has won academic prizes locally and regionally (The Wildlife Award from the Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC); the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Best Arab Researchers; the State Incentive Award; the Best Arab Book Award in the field of the environment; and the best editor in AJGS Springer Award) and acts as the Kuwait representation active member on the Committee of Science and Technology (CST) on the United Nation Committee for Compacting Desertification (UNCCD) (2016-2019), as well as being a member of many local, regional, and global scientific committees. Dr. Ali is on the editorial boards of many local and international journals (Springer). He is the author of more than 80 books, chapters, and published papers in refereed scientific journals and conferences.
