The German light cruiser Leipzig was the lead ship of her class, built in Wilhelmshaven and launched in 1929. Following service during the Spanish Civil War, and a conversion to a training ship, Leipzig was re-commissioned and entered World War II in 1940.

This monograph includes description of cruiser's combat service and technical data. The book is rich in illustrations and includes over 100 photos, as well as many detailed colour profiles including a complete record of the ship’s camouflage schemes - previously unpublished. Inserts include detailed drawings of a cruiser and its appearance during the ship’s whole period of service before it was surrendered to the British at the end of World War II and scuttled in the North Sea.
