In Panavia Tornado, readers are invited to explore the intricacies of a remarkable European fighter aircraft. This detailed examination delves into the history and development of the Panavia Tornado, a twin-engine fighter-bomber renowned for its variable wing geometry. Produced through a collaborative effort among Great Britain, Germany, and Italy, the Tornado represents a significant achievement in military aviation engineering.

The book highlights the three primary versions of the Tornado: the IDS (Interdictor/Strike) version, designed for attack missions; the ADV (Air Defense Variant), which serves as an interceptor; and the ECR (Electronic Combat/Reconnaissance), tailored for electronic combat and reconnaissance missions. Each version showcases unique capabilities and adaptations, reflecting the evolving needs of air combat.

Through a combination of technical specifications, historical context, and operational insights, Panavia Tornado provides a comprehensive overview of this iconic aircraft. The narrative not only covers its design and functionality but also examines its role in various military engagements, making it a valuable resource for aviation enthusiasts and historians alike.

The book is filled with photographs, some of which are superb, and include a balance of RAF, German, and Italian planes. The colour graphic illustrations are excellent (an A4 print of the cover comes with the book), so that if you wanted to build a model, most of your bases will be covered by this book. I think old Tornado crews will enjoy this as will anyone wanting a guide to the plane. * Wargames Illustrated 14/06/2021 *
If you’re interested in the Tornado, Tonka of Fin, this is an excellent book to broaden your knowledge, and prime you for a potential deep-dive later into weightier tomes. * Britmodeller.com 16/08/2021 *
...a great primer or starter book for someone with an interest in the “mud mover” non air defence variant of the Tornado. * Aviation Enthusiast Book Club 05/07/2021 *
Some of the pictures in the book are stunning examples of how some people can get a picture just right. * Aeroscale *
