Nickel in Relation to Plants

Nickel in Relation to Plants presents current advances in the study of nickel biogeochemistry, essentiality, toxicity manifestations and adoptive tolerance mechanism. The book starts with the occurrence, mobility and availability of nickel from soil environment to the plant system, followed by a description of its relative distribution and transport mechanism within the plant systems. The essential role of nickel, toxicity manifestation and plasma membrane mediated avoidance and biochemical defense strategies are also discussed. Sections have been especially devoted to the antioxidant response to the metal and explaining the toxicity of nickel on cynobacteria and ends with some important remedial measures against the metal.
