What is hard and what is soft? What is curved and what is straight? What is safe and what is dangerous? Learn these and many other opposites in English and Spanish in the bilingual title Opposites-Opuestos.
Can you name something fragile, something fast, and something loud? And do you know what opposites are? The world around us is filled with them!
When you look closely at things, you will learn that they can be cold, light, pointed, or even stinky. Each of these things has an opposite—something hot, heavy, rounded, or fragrant. And there is much, much more to discover in this book!

"I'm trying to teach my oldest son some Spanish this year. I only know a little myself so it's slow going. But, now I have Opposites Opuestos by Magda Garguláková to help. In fact, we can learn about 500 different things in this book." —Growing Book by Book IG
"Children who love looking at pictures and labeling them will appreciate this concept. Each one is labeled in both English and Spanish to allow some bilingual learning if/as desired as well. The images are cute and cartoonish with plenty of examples of the terms on each spread. The font is clear and bold throughout, making it easy to read as desired to little ones. [. . .] OPPOSITES is an intriguing collection of objects related to opposing terms that will work well for children who love labeling images." —YA Books Central
I love that this is a bilingual book with English and Spanish written side by side. This would be so great for anyone learning a new language to expand their vocabulary! - Luminous Libro
"Definitely of use to language educators, this packs a lot of opposites in and presents them – and only them – in nicely pictorial manner, and in English and Spanish at the same time. So on one page we have a collection of hot things – sun-baked sand, agua hirviendo and so on, and on the opposing page the direct opposite, from a banador mojado to a frosted-up window. What just those quickly-found examples should prove is that this is not a simplistic word list, but something with much more scope and variety, allowing the younger audience to come here and find some instances of opposites to fix that concept in their mind, and older students the ability to learn some useful vocab. I wonder too how young minds will get round the fact boiling water is here twice – that might be fun to explain. Either way, really nicely done, this is spot on in what it wants to do, and to repeat has more about it than many books that cover similar ground in just the one language." —John Lloyd
