The book 1990s Jewellery provides a comprehensive overview of the Design Workshop Schmuck, which was founded by Hans Schullin and directed by Fritz Maierhofer during the 1990s. This workshop took place in Graz from 1991 to 1998 and aimed to offer an alternative approach to the existing jewellery training programs in Austria. The initiative attracted internationally acclaimed guest professors, including David Watkins, Giampaolo Babetto, and Gijs Bakker, who collaborated with jewellery artists and goldsmiths to develop innovative projects.

Through the years, the workshop fostered a creative environment that allowed for artistic exploration and growth. The culmination of this initiative is represented in the collection of over sixty jewellery pieces created by both students and teachers, showcasing the unique talents and perspectives that emerged from this collaborative effort. The collection was first exhibited at the Museum im Palais in Graz in 2012, highlighting the significance of this artistic movement.
