Meinhard von Gerkan is one of the most successful and sought-after contemporary German architects. As a co-founder of the architecture firm gmp – von Gerkan, Marg und Partner, he has realized impressive projects worldwide over the past 50 years, with an impressive range of architecture of a high standard. There are few architectural challenges he has not taken on over the course of half a century. His work comprises large-scale projects, as well as small buildings. He has been equally dedicated to solving architectural details as to the design of urban spaces or entire towns, such as Lingang near Shanghai in China.
The biography in two volumes, which has been compiled in close cooperation with Meinhard von Gerkan, presents the impressive spectrum of his work, based on personal encounters with people and places and on selected buildings, offering 50 years of architecture for Germany and the world.
