Ausgehend von der zentralen Frage, wie Ursachen von Korruption studiert werden, ist das Ziel der Herausgeber, die Konzeptualisierungen von Korruption innerhalb verschiedener Denkschulen zusammenzubringen. In insgesamt zehn Beiträgen wird deshalb nicht nur versucht zu verstehen, was Akteure bewegt, entgegen ihrer in der Öffentlichkeit propagierten Ideale zu handeln. Deutlich werden auch die Stärken und Schwächen der jeweiligen wissenschaftlichen Herangehensweise.
