Mandala

Hailing from the Indian cultural context, a mandala defines a—sacred—circle. Mandalas are used as meditation aids. At the same time they are artistic translations of spiritual contents gained in visionary experiences. Not only Tibet and other Asian countries boast of mandalas but as paintings, buildings, and rituals they are found in almost every cultural realm of the world.
