By comparison to the high profile of the New Frankfurt housing estates, post-war housing construction in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region has led a shadowy existence - although the achievements of this period should not be underestimated, by any means. In the 95 s, 9 s and 97 s, numerous housing estates of excellent urban planning and architectural quality were built, some of which are not at all well-known. They are presented in this publication.
A further aim is to dispel the still widespread prejudice assuming that these estates are monotonous and impersonal. The book invites the reader to take a closer look at the ten examples presented. Especially today, when the construction of new urban districts is being seriously discussed once more, they deserve a differentiated study. The buildings here were constructed with high standards of design and with social principles that can serve as a model for future settlements in many respects.
