"Yemini has provided a unique resource for scholars and students involved in research on internationalization in education. With an impressive collection of empirical studies along with astute theoretical insights, the book provides a valuable resource for conceptualizing and further investigating this evolving arena." (Robin Shields, Senior Lecturer in Higher Education Management, School of Management, University of Bath, UK ) "Yemini tackles the complexity of educational internationalization and its project of producing the global citizen in post-national times. This book brings to the surface both the challenges and the urgent case for some transcendent notion of citizenship if education systems are to contribute to a hopeful future." (Catherine Doherty, Associate Professor of Education, School of Cultural and Professional Learning, Queensland University of Technology, Australia) "This book makes a significant contribution to the growing field of international education through its comprehensive exploration of the process of internationalization across a wide range of educational contexts. Yemini has achieved a skillful integration of evidence, including a specific case study of a new International school in Israel. Fundamental issues are raised and insights revealed that will be of interest to teachers at secondary and tertiary levels and which will also be of value to researchers in the field." (Jeff Thompson, Emeritus Professor of Education, University of Bath, UK)
The book illuminates and analyzes a set of key tensions of internationalization across multiple levels of schooling and across the domains of popular discourse, policy, curriculum, pedagogy, and students’ identity, by connecting or re-connecting the process of internationalization and its outcomes at individual level of global citizenship.
This book examines the integration of the international, global, and intercultural dimensions in contemporary education systems. Yemini provides a comprehensive understanding of the process of internationalization from different angles including policy-making, curriculum implementation, media discourse, and individual agency. The author uses solid empirical embedding of each of those aspects together with development of novel theoretical insights in each of the investigated domains.
“This book focuses on international and global dimensions of education across multiple levels of schooling. … accessible to both specialists and non-specialists in the field, and is likely to be particularly useful to students and researchers in these fields, as well as to be of interest to teachers at both secondary and tertiary levels.” (Nicola Savvides, Journal of Research in International Education, Vol. 18 (1), April, 2019)
