Re-Imagining the Christmas Truce cover

The 1914 Christmas truce in France leads to an armistice and peace. A group of Australian footballers and a history student play a critical role in instigating these peace negotiations. The peace negotiating body consists of six statesmen, three famous scientists and five feminists from Australia, Britain and Germany. The peace process involves voting by the populations of Lorraine and Alsace. In the ensuing peace feminists are appointed to senior Cabinet posts in Australia, Britain, France and Germany. They implement legislation to ensure easy access to divorce, birth control and abortion. They also legislate for equal opportunity in education. and employment, so that by 1925 women are represented in many medical specialities, financial organisations and the law. The footballers' captain is married to a woman who adopts a feminist position and he is fully supportive of her. He becomes a member of Parliament when he retires from football and pursues equality for both women and indigenous Australians.
