Royals cover

Cedar Sigo grew up on the Suquamish reservation, outside of Seattle. We plan on sending copies of Royals to bookstores and Native American culture centers on the West Coast. Sigo has strong connections to poets all over the country. We will generate word-of-mouth publicity for Royals by sending out complimentary copies to established poets who know him. San Francisco has a thriving population of poetry readers. We will target bookstores in California, and in San Francisco in particular, such as City Lights. We will also promote the book to the poets and communities centered around the Naropa Institute in Boulder, CO, as well as those around New York institutions such as the Poetry Project at St. Marks Church and the Unterberg Poetry Center at the 92nd St. Y. Review copies and pitches will be sent to print and online venues with dedicated poetry coverage, like The Rumpus, The Volta, Poetry, BOMB, and trades such as Publishers Weekly. Co-op available

Poems that energetically celebrate the pleasures of writing and the romance of being a poet.Rhythmic and energetic poems, exciting to hear read aloud. Sigo is a Native American and gay poet, and we expect that this book will particularly interest both communities. In 1995 Sigo was awarded a scholarship to study writing and poetics at The Naropa Institute in Boulder Colorado where he studied with Allen Ginsberg, Anne Waldman, Lisa Jarnot, Alice Notley, and Joanne Kyger, among other poets. Many of these poems are addressed to other poets, helping readers relate his work to a larger poetic history. Sigo has lived in San Francisco since 1999 and is active in the poetry scene there, which is one of the most vibrant in the country.
