Ex-soldier Tom Scobie had won the safe parliamentary constituency of Ridgeway, against all the odds, only to discover that his seat is anything but safe. At home shady figures seek to undermine him and things get even more dangerous abroad. The prime minister sends him on a delicate mission and he quickly finds himself entangled in a world of multinational criminality.
