Landlocked is a captivating original story imagined, written, and beautifully illustrated by Gretel Lusky, who has captured the online art world with her mystical images and otherworldly art style.
Her protagonist, Ridge, is a former sailor with a troubled past, who craves nothing but freedom. His struggles have seen him end up working at a harbour, saving every penny in the hope of achieving his dream to sail the seven seas once again. But when a valued creature crosses his path and he decides to steal it, he has to deal with the consequences of his actions. At the same time, he learns the troubles and joys of living with a charming yet deadly mermaid.
In an appealing compact, hardback format, this is a high-quality zine that fans of Gretel and newcomers to her work will equally enjoy. Full-colour printed pages show off the beauty of the story illustrations, and the narrative echoes popular themes of mermaids and mystery. The cover will feature a piece of stunning art from the story, sure to catch readers' eye and draw them in.
