Be regaled by tales well known and less so, of gods and goddesses, and heroes as you tour the Mediterranean, learning too about the places where each story takes place and why it is important. As well as the manner in which the myths unfold, I love the family tree at the start, the map of the stopping points and the end papers. These tales read aloud beautifully and fluently in a really accessible way, it's not dry at all. But what really lists this are the gorgeous pictures by Sander Berg. Somehow they manage to be very classical and in keeping with the subject but they're also very contemporary too. They have a feel of illustrations of a parallel universe, fantasy world which feels very appropriate. It's absolutely gorgeous book! * Autumn reads with Julia *
