In Blossoms in Autumn, we meet Ulysses, a 59-year-old widower whose life has been overshadowed by profound loneliness since his retirement. Once a vibrant moving man, he now finds himself adrift, lacking direction and purpose. His attempts to connect with his children are futile; his daughter has passed away, and his son is too absorbed in his work to offer any comfort. Ulysses's world is a quiet one, filled with the echoes of what once was, leaving him to grapple with the emptiness of his days.

On the other side of town is Mrs. Solenza, a 62-year-old former model who once graced magazine covers but now finds herself running her late mother's cheese shop. Like Ulysses, she is also alone, navigating the complexities of life after loss. Her past glories feel distant as she manages a business that serves as a reminder of her solitude. Both characters are caught in a cycle of sadness, inching towards the inevitability of old age without any hope or companionship.
