Donkey Bridges for Development TA cover

Written for people with some knowledge of TA, this book contains a myriad of ideas for teaching TA to others in ways that make it memorable and accessible. Julie Hay sets out the key principles of developmental TA. At the same time she illustrates how to explain these concepts in a style that captures the fun and simplicity of early TA writings. If you are already familiar with transactional analysis concepts, teach or explain them to other people, and are looking for simple frameworks to pass on to others - this book is what you need. It converts the original therapeutic focus of TA into an emphasis on healthy development, contains easy to understand versions of a range of TA concepts, and uses various memory aids to help you and clients recall the ideas when you need to use them. This book has been written specifically for those in the business of helping other people to develop themselves. This includes coaches, teachers and trainers, human resource professionals, social workers, consultants, mediators, facilitators - and not forgetting counsellors and therapists who want to explain some of the theory to their clients but feel the need for a different approach to that used to learn TA themselves during their own professional training. Julie Hay has taken models used by psychotherapists and converted them into frameworks that focus on positive psychology and the healthy development of individuals, teams and organisations. These are just as relevant for individuals and their families, teachers and students - anyone in any set of circumstances will find something of value within developmental transactional analysis. Please note that the book assumes reasonable familiarity with TA concepts. This is not the book for beginners! Julie gives full details of where concepts originated, as well as where some of the 'donkey bridge' variations have first appeared. However, she does not give detailed explanations of descriptions as this information is readily available from other sources - including some of Julie's other books, such as Transactional Analysis for Trainers.
