Life Everlasting cover

National Museums Scotland is home to a world-class collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts. Though a public collection for 150 years, its breadth and depth remains largely unknown. This book aims to bring to public attention the many exceptional funerary items which include the royal burial group from Qurna, the coffin of the priest Iufenaumun, and the unusual double-coffin and mummies of the young half-brothers, Petamun and Penhorpabik. In bringing the collection to light, this book provides a wider understanding of its history, including the numerous figures who were responsible for acquiring, researching and preserving it over the years - egyptologists, curators and historians.

' - This is a scholarly but very readable publication. - will be invaluable to anyone who is making a study of ancient Egyptian coffins, but will be equally informative, if, having seen the coffins on display in the museum one just wants to find out more about them.' Ancient Egypt ' - Life Everlasting is a valuable resource for the study and understanding of coffins and burial objects. It is also a very interesting book for the enthusiast. The quality of presentation and the detailed information make this a unique, '"must-have" book to add to your collection. After reading through my copy I have added the National Museums Scotland to my list of places I would like to visit. - ' Archaeological Diggings ' - The thoroughness of this book makes an important Scottish contribution to Egyptology - This is a pleasing, useful volume, a worthy addition for any serious student of ancient Egypt, beautifully produced - ' Scottish Pharaonic ' ... It is a valuable addition to the subject of Egyptian coffins and the history of Egyptological collections, and is recommended for both coffin specialists and general interest readers.' Egyptian Archaeology '... The authors should be commended on the publication of a group of wonderful objects, which were heretofore under-published and I am sure that those who read it will be encouraged to visit and study the NMS's coffin collection.'
