The New Russia

The eight articles in this volume cover four aspects of Russia since 1991: history and its re-evaluation; education and religion; literature and the press; and foreign relations. The volume includes Sally Dalton-Brown's assessment of the work of Bulat Okudzhava, winner of the Booker Prize for Literature in December 1994. The vicissitudes of Russia's relationship with the OSCE and NATO are analyzed by Derek Hunns, while her problems with her former empire form the theme of David Braund's article on Abkhazia.
