Teasel is a field mouse and his best friend is a hedgehog called Bramble. But hedgehogs must hibernate during the colder months of the year, so when autumn comes, the friends must part.

Teasel will miss Bramble terribly but comes up with a wonderful idea - he will keep a diary for Bramble and describe to him the autumn activities of the woodland animals and the delights of winter that Bramble has never known.
