The latest great book from the author of the best-selling ‘Eva’ and ‘Alice & Megan’ series
Eva Gordon doesn't like mysteries – so when new girl Aretta hurries away after school every day Eva's determined to find out why. And Aretta's not the only person Eva's interested in – her friend's granny has been parted from her beloved dog, so Eva decides to cheer her up. But can she?
Eva finds that some things are too big and complicated for one girl to deal with on her own ... but she has a talent for bringing people together, and together people can do almost anything!
funny, entertaining and a real page turner ... this book raises two very topical issues, treatment of the elderly in nursing homes and the rights of immigrants, which could be explored after a class reading
-- InToucha great story about true friendship and believing in yourself, and another great instalment from a fabulous writer
-- Children’s Books Ireland Recommended Reading GuideOnly Eva encourages readers to treat all individuals with dignity and respect, making it very valuable indeed … a sentimental and thoughtful tale which will hopefully inspire young readers to replicate the many good deeds Eva so kindly carries out, no matter how overly optimistic they may seem
-- The Looking GlassCurtin has a light touch but does not shy away from strong themes, in this case the treatment of elderly people, and direct provision centres and the difficulties children face living there
-- Irish Independentbrilliant as ever!
-- Nayu’s Reading CornerImpulsive, generous, warm-hearted, Eva is one of Judi Curtin’s most appealing heroines … in each of the Eva books, Judi Curtin wraps it up in a lively, funny adventure, keeping saccharine, and any sense of worthiness at bay … Readers will be inspired … and will finish the book with a warm glow, and the belief that pretty much anything is possible if you put your heart in it
-- booksforkeeps.co.uka funny, endearing, and exciting book for age 10 plus
-- Irish ExaminerEva acts as a window through which young readers can look at issues they might not normally consider … to reveal more of the well-crafted plot would be unforgivable. Suffice to say there’s plenty in this story for both Eva and her readers to puzzle over, and enough topical, thought-provoking material to make this relevant for school use
-- Evening EchoOnly Eva ... can bring people together in her own inimitable way. This delightful character has a wonderful way of seeing what people need and stepping in to help … it's all down to this charming heroine who loves to make people happy
-- www.parentsintouch.co.ukI really enjoyed this book. I couldn't put it down. I have read other books in this series and I was not surprised at how great it was. Judi Curtin is a fantastic author and I think she has an amazing imagination. My favourite character is definitely Eva. She is funny, clever and never gives up. She also has a talent for dragging people, especially her best friend Ella, into her crazy but clever schemes
