The Dark Taal cover

Thousands of years ago the gods, in order to bring balance and harmony, made the Firebrand stone and the Chimera stone. The Firebrand stone was born of darkness and the Chimera stone born of light. The gods made them accessible to the many races of Aymara, and their balancing influence worked for a time. However, as the races advanced and reason prevailed, the Chimera stone was forgotten over time and disappeared; leaving the Firebrand stone's evil unchecked and the world is ravaged by unremitting war. That was, until a dragon lord from the north, together with his followers stole the Firebrand stone and splitting it into four segments hid them from the gaze of the power hungry. Peace reigned for a time but as war threatens the land of Durbah and the surrounding lands once more, the gods decide to act and Aridain is born, championed by the goddess Seline. His magic, uncontrolled and unrestrained, attracts a dark opposite, championed by the dark god Fornax; this creature is destined to kill Aridain, salvage the stones and usher forth a new reign of darkness; but they are not alone. Also seeking the stones is Aridain's evil uncle, a dark wizard called Kuelack, who also seeks dominion over the six kingdoms of Aymara. With his dark opposite stalking him Aridain, with the aid of friends and family, must quickly learn who he is and control the magic that will aid him in his quest to defeat the Dark Taal and then find and destroy the stones.

Wrapped in rich narratives and evocative imageries, Dean GE Matthews opens up a world where hope and courage disarm evilness in the spirit of an innocent boy. Rediscover the special bonds of family and friendship as you delve into the fantastical world of wizardry and magic.
