Theory and Method in Higher Education Research cover

Higher education research is a developing field internationally, which is attracting more and more researchers from a great variety of disciplinary backgrounds within and beyond higher education institutions. As such, it is an arena within which a wide range of theories, methods and methodologies is being applied. This volume of Theory and Method in Higher Education Research contains analyses and discussions of, amongst others, disability frameworks, rhythms research, loose coupling, mixed methods, internet-mediated research, critical whiteness and selection bias.

In this 2019 volume in an annual series, international contributors in higher education and sociology address theory and method, with special focus on theory. Theories addressed include disability frameworks, loose coupling, pluralism, and phronesis. While much of the book is devoted to qualitative research, there is one chapter on quantitative research and one chapter on mixed methods research. Some subjects addressed are policy positions of stakeholder organizations in higher education, the use and misuse of loose coupling in higher education research, challenging whiteness through qualitative research, researching non-traditional adult students, and ethnographies of higher education. Chapter abstracts and keywords are included. Distributed in North America by Turpin Distribution. -- Annotation ©2019 * (protoview.com) *
