In the fourth installment of the series, Evacuees at the Wartime Bookshop, Victoria searches for safety while navigating village challenges and personal relationships.

In January 1942, Victoria seeks a safe haven away from the perils of wartime London for herself and two orphaned children. Her journey leads her to Churchwood in Hertfordshire, a village that seems ideal but is fraught with its own challenges. As Victoria navigates her new surroundings, she discovers that the residents are grappling with their own dilemmas, complicating her quest for a peaceful life.

Alice, a determined local, is focused on restoring the village bookshop after the previous location was destroyed. She faces a pressing issue: the new building requires urgent repairs, but the builder has gone missing, along with the funds he was paid. Meanwhile, Kate is at a crossroads in her relationship with pilot Leo. As she contemplates the next steps, she worries about meeting his affluent parents, fearing they may not accept her humble background.

Amidst these personal struggles, Naomi extends her support to Victoria and her evacuees. However, she soon finds herself overwhelmed, especially when confronted by an unexpected intruder. Evacuees at the Wartime Bookshop weaves a tale of resilience and community, exploring whether Victoria and her new family can find the sanctuary they desperately seek amidst the turmoil of war.
