This engaging illustrated guide offers a child's perspective on ADHD and tics, providing insights and practical advice for understanding these conditions.

In ADHD, Tics & Me!, readers are introduced to Jamie, a young boy navigating the challenges of ADHD and Tourette Syndrome. Jamie candidly shares his journey of diagnosis, illustrating how his conditions manifest in daily life. He emphasizes that his fidgeting and tics are not choices, but rather involuntary actions that can be misunderstood. Through Jamie's perspective, readers gain insight into the complexities of living with these disorders, fostering empathy and understanding.

The book is structured in two engaging parts. The first section is packed with interactive activities and practical information, helping children and adults alike understand the nuances of ADHD and tics. Jamie provides valuable tips on managing symptoms and highlights the importance of support from friends and family. He also addresses the difficulty in distinguishing between ADHD-related fidgeting and tics, a common source of confusion.

The second part of the book narrates Jamie's inspiring relationship with his Grandfather, who encourages him to explore his experiences with tics. Jamie's involvement in an after-school tic club allows him and his friends to share their stories, creating a sense of community and understanding. ADHD, Tics & Me! serves as an excellent resource for children aged 7 and up, as well as for educators and families, promoting meaningful discussions about ADHD and tic disorders.

ADHD, Tics & Me! is a must-get book for children, parents and teachers. It follows the story of Jamie who clearly explains how tics affect his day-to-day life. The book is written in language that children can relate to. It encourages young people to think about their own lives and experiences and offers suggestions how adults can help. -- Soli Lazarus, ADHD consultant and author of ADHD Is Our Superpower
ADHD, Tics & Me! is a very accessible book that will appeal to young children who have been recently diagnosed with ADHD or Tourette Syndrome. The authors have done well by normalizing some of the subtleties of the conditions. I particularly like the fact that there is a focus on personality, interests, and hobbies which empowers the reader to see that they are much more than a label for medical symptoms. The book will help with improving knowledge but more importantly help with self-esteem issues which is often neglected in books on the subject. -- Professor Uttom Chowdhury, University of Bedfordshire
