The Missing of Clairdelune cover

In The Missing of Clairdelune, Ophelia navigates political intrigue and personal challenges as she uncovers hidden truths about her world and herself.

In The Missing of Clairdelune, readers are drawn back into the complex and enchanting world of the Arks. Ophelia, now aware of her powers, finds herself entangled in the intricate political landscape of the Pole. Her new role as Vice-storyteller, appointed by Farouk, the ancestral Spirit of Pole, thrusts her into the public eye, where the weight of her abilities becomes both a blessing and a curse. As she navigates this treacherous terrain, Ophelia must confront the brewing conspiracies hidden beneath the opulent facade of Citaceleste.

The stakes are raised when influential courtiers begin to vanish under mysterious circumstances, leading Ophelia into an investigation fraught with danger. With her fiancé Thorn by her side, she must decipher the truth behind these disappearances while grappling with her own vulnerabilities. The political machinations of the Pole reveal layers of deception, forcing Ophelia to question whom she can truly trust in a world where alliances shift like sand.

As the story unfolds, The Missing of Clairdelune explores themes of power, loyalty, and the pursuit of truth. Ophelia's journey is not only one of self-discovery but also a quest to unveil the hidden realities of the Pole. Readers will be captivated by the rich narrative and the intricate dynamics that define this mesmerizing realm, as Ophelia seeks to uncover the formidable truths that lie beneath the surface.

The Missing of Clairdelune more than met my expectations, again combining the elements of adventure and mystery with fascinating world-building. The plot is building up to be every bit as bonkers in a good way as G W Dahlqvist’s wonderful The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters (far less violent and racy of course, but the drug of choice in Citaceleste – blue sandglasses – does echo the glass books). The central will-they-won’t-they-actually-get-married plot is advanced interestingly and we grow to love Ophelia even more than we did during the first book. (10/10 again from me). * Annabookbel *
