Factology: Ancient Egypt is a fact-packed introduction to this iconic time in history, presented in maps, timelines, diagrams and statistics.

Did you know that the pyramids of Giza were once covered in a white casing made of glimmering limestone that was so polished it would reflect the Sun’s rays? Discover the truth about this early human civilisation: its ancient ways of life, rulers, rituals, mythology, animals and everyday people.

This visually stunning history guide introduces the Egyptian gods and pharaohs, the mysteries of mummification, the great pyramids, the language of hieroglyphics, the world of Egyptian wildlife and much, much more!

Each volume in the Factology series provides a fast-paced and fun introduction to its subject, explaining key concepts and highlighting significant events in a manner that is clear, accessible and entertaining.

The KS2 and KS3 school curriculum is consulted when devising each volume, to ensure that the books cover important educational topics, making them a perfect teaching aid for learning history and STEM subjects.

Move over National Geographic Kids, Button Books is about to knock you off your pedestal. The factology book series excelled in eye-catching design and tons of facts… kids will love pouring over all of these cool facts!

There is so much information, and while I’m highlighting that one in particular, all four of these books are absolute nonfiction stars. Seriously, I could go on and on about these books. The graphics are incredibly eye-catching (and different for each book - the bug book is primarily photographs, for example). There is so much information packed into these pages - and there are activities included in the books as well! If you have a kid with an interest in one of these subjects, I’d look for these immediately - or dare I say, add them to a holiday gift list.

This volume of the Factology series (4 titles) jauntily skips along through the history and culture of ancient Egypt. It will be most appreciated by visual learners and browsers, who can easily jump around as different topics catch their fancy. The first chapter, “Epic Egypt,” is a hodgepodge of interesting accolades and trivia, touching on ancient Egyptians’ early advances in medicine, their love of art, and “Cleopatra’s Beauty Secrets.” Religion and funerary practices are examined in the second chapter, and the third (and final) chapter is devoted to Egyptology and important discoveries. Highly visual, this fact-packed offering utilizes a plethora of photos, digital art, diagrams, and maps. The use of metric measurements and Britishisms reveals the book’s UK origins but won’t interfere with kids’ enjoyment of this brisk history.

Each of these books is brilliant to pick up and dip into but I can see that each book will also be such a valuable resource as my children go through KS2 and KS3. They would make a great addition to a school library.
