Blue Beetle: Graduation Day follows Jaime Reyes, a high school senior facing the challenges of impending graduation while also dealing with the responsibilities of being a superhero. As Jaime balances his final exams and the emergence of a new villain wreaking havoc in El Paso, he finds himself caught between two very different worlds. The situation escalates dramatically when the events of his graduation day force these worlds to collide, leading to significant changes in his life.

Jaime, known as the Blue Beetle, is bonded to a sentient alien artifact called a scarab that provides him with advanced armor and abilities. However, on the day of his graduation, he receives a troubling message from the Reach, an alien civilization, which disrupts his plans. Compounding his stress, the Justice League intervenes, grounding him and adding to the pressure from his family and friends about his future after high school.

After graduation, Jaime heads to Palmera City to spend a gap year working in his tias' restaurant, but he remains preoccupied with the mysterious Yellow Beetle he saw on the news and the connection to the Reach's message. As he navigates these challenges, Jaime must find a way to balance his dual identity and prove himself as a true hero, all while uncovering the secrets that could draw the Reach back to Earth.
