AKIRA: Art of Wall cover

This collector's box celebrates the art project that brought AKIRA to life in Shibuya, featuring stunning reproductions and exclusive insights from its creators.

From 2017 to 2019, Tokyo's Shibuya neighborhood became a canvas for a remarkable art project, transforming the barriers of a closed PARCO department store into a vibrant display. Renowned manga artist Katsuhiro Otomo, along with collage artist Kosuke Kawamura, took this unique opportunity to showcase Otomo's iconic work, AKIRA, bridging the gap between construction and the lively atmosphere of Shibuya. This project culminated in 2019, coinciding with the year in which the story of AKIRA is set, creating a fitting tribute to the manga's legacy.

The result of this artistic endeavor is captured in a stunning silver foil-coated collector's box that features a meticulous reproduction of the artwork created by Otomo and Kawamura. This exquisite packaging includes nearly 75 feet of illustrations, speech balloons, and text carefully selected from the six volumes of AKIRA. The three accordion-bound volumes present a comprehensive view of the project, while a fourth volume adds depth with an exclusive interview featuring insights from both Otomo and Kawamura.

Additionally, the collector's box showcases photographs of the original exhibition taken by award-winning photographer TAKAMURADAISUKE. To complete the experience, a dramatic poster measuring 16 1/2 x 23 3/8 is included, making this collection not just a celebration of AKIRA but also a significant moment in contemporary art history.
