Web campaigns: Partnership with the nation of Peru to promote Frommer’s EasyGuide to Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu with a major contest. Partnership with the nation of Colombia to promote Frommer’s EasyGuide to Colombia. Partnership/contest with HomeAway.com to promote the 60th anniversary (2017) of the Frommer’s brand. Keynote speeches: Every year Pauline and Arthur Frommer make personal appearances across the United States at Travel Shows and other venues. In 2018/2019, these included appearances at the New York Times Travel Show, the Minneapolis Star Tribune Travel Show, The Society of American Travel Writers Conference, and the Travel and Adventure Shows held in Los Angeles, San Diego, Dallas, Philadelphia and Chicago. All were supported by advertising campaigns, with mentions of the Frommer guidebooks.
TV Appearances: In the last five years, Pauline Frommer has appeared multiple times on Good Morning America, The Today Show, the NBC Evening News, the ABC Evening News, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, Fox, and Inside Edition. In addition, all of the travel show speeches (see above) require appearances on local TV and radio stations, to boost those shows and the books.
Other Media: Quoted in multiple articles by the Associated Press, including one last June on Pauline’s tips for visiting New York City (which was be paired with an AP podcast on that topic). Frommer’s, and Arthur and Pauline Frommer, were the subject of a feature article in the magazine that has the largest circulation on earth, AARP’s magazine. We have also recently appeared in print and/or online versions of Real Simple, Forbes, Travel & Leisure, Conde Nast Traveler, Money Magazine, and other magazines, along with newspapers and blogs. Appearances for the last three years on Rick Steve’s radio show, as well as other NPR shows.
Social Media: Frommer’s maintains an active social media presence and has 150,000 Twitter followers (which is 43,000 more than Rick Steves), over 35,000 followers on Facebook, over 26,000 followers on Instagram, and 190,000 monthly viewers on Pinterest. Unlike our competitors, we delete all bots, so these are real numbers, not inflated ones. We’ve also done numerous successful ad campaigns on Facebook in the last year.
