Frommer’s Marketing/PR Efforts

  • Frommers.com: With 3 million unique users per month, Frommers.com is a beloved travel tool for consumers and a potent marketing arm of the books. The site is updated daily with blogs, articles about the latest travel news, and galleries of travel photos.
  • Web campaigns: Partnership with the nation of Peru to promote Frommer’s EasyGuide to Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu with a major contest. Partnership with the nation of Colombia to promote Frommer’s EasyGuide to Colombia.
  • Partnership/contest with HomeAway.com to promote the 60th anniversary (2017) of the Frommer’s brand. Partnership with Jetsetter and MoneyCrashers to promote travel to Bali. And Frommers.com continues to be an important presence on the web with 3 million unique users per month.
  • Newspaper Campaigns: In 2021, we partnered with USA Today on a special section on travel, which featured large ads for the Frommer guidebooks
  • Keynote speeches: Every year Pauline and Arthur Frommer make personal appearances across the United States at Travel Shows and other venues. In 2021/2022, these will include appearances at the Smithsonian, the Minneapolis Star Tribune Travel Show, The Society of American Travel Writers Conference, and the Travel and Adventure Shows held in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, Boston and Denver. All were supported by advertising campaigns, with mentions of the Frommer guidebooks.
  • TV Appearances: In the last five years, Pauline Frommer has appeared multiple times on Good Morning America, The Today Show, the NBC Evening News, the ABC Evening News, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, Fox, and Inside Edition. In addition, all of the travel show speeches (see above) require appearances on local TV and radio stations, to boost those shows and the books.
  • Other Media: Quoted in multiple articles by the Associated Press, including one in December of 2021 on the Frommer’s Best Places to Go List (the Washington Post also wrote a complete article about that collection of essays). Frommer’s, and Arthur and Pauline Frommer, were the subject of a feature article in the magazine that has the largest circulation on earth, AARP’s magazine. We have also recently appeared in print and/or online versions of Real Simple, Forbes, Travel & Leisure, Conde Nast Traveler, Money Magazine, and other magazines, along with newspapers and blogs. Appearances for the last three years on Rick Steves' radio show, as well as other NPR shows.
  • Social Media: Frommer’s maintains an active social media presence and has 150,000 Twitter followers (which is 43,000 more than Rick Steves), over 35,000 followers on Facebook, over 26,000 followers on Instagram, and 190,000 monthly viewers on Pinterest. Unlike our competitors, we delete all bots, so these are real numbers, not inflated ones. We’ve also done numerous successful ad campaigns on Facebook in the last year.

How to travel better, smarter and cheaper in 2023:  For an affordable New York hotel, consult Pauline. That would be Pauline Frommer of Frommers.com, who lives in Manhattan and makes it her business to check out the city’s cheap-ish hotels herself. It’s a tough job–the average daily rate eclipsed $300 over the summer, and she’s on the lookout for rates below that. But this is the bargain hunger whose dad, Arthur, wrote the original “Europe on $5 a Day” in 1957. in 1957. Her latest assessment is on Frommers.com.
