New Methods for Crochet Socks cover

If you love crocheting socks, you will love this book. Included are 12 patterns, all using Premier® Yarns Deborah Norville Serenity Sock and Serenity Garden Sock yarns. A variety of techniques such as lace, colorwork, Tunisian and cables are used to present a collection of beautiful and functional designs. Instructions include tips for working socks with different stitch patterns, sizing the socks, and getting the correct gauge. There are a variety of heel and toe patterns that can be used interchangeably. Skill level: easy to intermediate.

I am really enjoying this book. You can mix and match all the different socks to your hearts content.
If you prefer you can just follow the exact patterns and make some fantastic socks. All the patterns are in written format but charts are supplied with a repeating pattern. Every sock looks different and has it's own unique look. Each of the pattern are split into parts; Cuff, Leg, Heel Flap, Heel Turning,Gusset Foot,Toe. Some of the sock are toe up and some are cuff down. With each of the parts being broken down you can take one part from one and one part from another quiet easily. Each of the socks come in three sizes -small, medium, large. But with the techniques you could easily alter them to the exact size you want. Some of the socks have a more feminine look, like the "Falling Pineapple". Other socks are perfect for men. Quite a few of the socks are unisex. The socks would make brilliant Christmas presents, as would the book. I have already made a pair of socks for my son. They were really easy to make and I found the instructions very easy to follow. What's even better is my son loves his new socks. Brilliant value for money and a book that will be used time and again.

Crochet up a selection of twelve pairs of socks with this useful pattern book. These socks are made using super fine and fine weight yarns and represent a wide variety of styles and methods. Why is this book different to other collections of sock patterns? Because the author in her foreword explains that a good sock maker needs to be able to adapt the patterns to suit foot sizes and individual tastes, and this book shows you how to do this.

This is not a book on how to crochet, but usefully at the back there is a quick stitch guide with small diagrams showing briefly how stitches are done. There is also a handy chart converting imperial to metric. The patterns themselves comprise written instructions and charts, with an easy to read spacious format.
